Stainless steel water tanks are increasingly favored

In today's life where green and environmental protection have become a theme, stainless steel water tanks are increasingly favored. In some major cities in China, the water supply department has made strict regulations on the selection of materials for roof water tanks in newly built residential buildings. According to personnel from Shanghai Water Supply Company, in recent years, stainless steel water tanks have been used in nearly 100 newly built residential communities in Shanghai with good results. It is expected that in the next few years, stainless steel water tanks will become a new growth point for domestic stainless steel consumption.
Similarly, stainless steel water pipes are also a major field of application in the construction industry during the 12th Five Year Plan period, because stainless steel water pipes have advantages such as corrosion resistance, hygiene, light weight, less maintenance, and long service life. Stainless steel water pipes have become increasingly popular in developed countries, with over 90% of water pipes in the Tokyo area of Japan being stainless steel. The number of pipe leaks has decreased from tens of thousands to 2-3 times per year. According to the national standard ANSI/NSF61-1996a formulated by the U.S. government in 1996, only stainless steel and ductile Cast iron pipe pipes are allowed to enter the water supply pipes of high-rise buildings for the metal pipes of drinking water, and stainless steel pipes are selected.
In recent years, some cities in China have also adopted stainless steel water pipes. As early as 2003, the Ministry of Construction of China revised and issued national standards and specifications such as the "Code for Building Water Supply and Drainage", "Stainless Steel Compression Fitting", and "Technical Specification for Thin-walled Stainless Steel Pipeline Engineering for Building Water Supply", marking the maturity of the application of stainless steel thin-walled pipes. Shanghai has piloted direct entry of drinking water into households, and stainless steel pipes have been selected as drinking water pipes; The cold and hot water pipes and direct drinking pipes related to the Shanghai World Expo are all made of stainless steel thin-walled pipes; A batch of high-end business buildings have adopted thin-walled stainless steel pipes and compression joint fittings for their water supply system. Pipeline direct drinking water is developing rapidly in cities such as Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Chongqing, and economically developed medium-sized cities are also actively planning to catch up. At present, high-end hotels and public places in China have been equipped or are being equipped with direct drinking water pipes. The application of stainless steel water pipes in the construction industry during the 12th Five Year Plan period will significantly increase, and the potential market is very huge.
Meanwhile, the "Plan" proposes that during the "12th Five Year Plan" period, the amount of HRB400 and above steel bars used in the construction industry will reach 45% of the total amount. So, in the future, stainless steel reinforcement will be promoted and applied in the construction industry. Stainless steel reinforcement not only has corrosion resistance, but also has comprehensive properties such as high yield strength, good toughness and ductility, and fatigue resistance. Stainless steel reinforcement has been applied in bridge construction. Some domestic steel mills have successively successfully produced stainless steel threaded steel bars such as 316L, 2205, and 2304, and collaborated with the Highway Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport to carry out relevant application research, laying a foundation for the entry of stainless steel plates and wires into industries such as roads and bridges.
Industry experts believe that the main characteristic of stainless steel reinforcement is a self repairing chromium rich oxide film on the surface of stainless steel. Its excellent corrosion resistance not only makes stainless steel a choice for building components, but also a substitute material for carbon steel reinforcement in reinforced concrete components. The use of stainless steel bars in reinforced concrete structures can enhance strength and resist the corrosion of embedded steel bars caused by harsh marine environments and chlorides formed in concrete. Corrosion-resistant stainless steel concrete is used on many marine structures such as bridge decks, piers, docks, pile foundations, breakwaters, anchoring systems, mooring equipment, gangways, and railings. In urban infrastructure, such as pedestrian overpasses, stainless steel reinforced concrete structures are also used. Compared with ordinary carbon steel reinforcement, stainless steel reinforcement has a higher initial cost, but considering its good comprehensive performance and service life, it is still cost-effective. With the continuous development of society, stainless steel reinforcement will gradually be widely used in the future construction industry and gradually replace the position of ordinary carbon steel.

During the 12th Five Year Plan period, stainless steel will showcase its skills in the construction industry. People firmly believe that with the improvement of China's comprehensive national strength, the expansion of stainless steel production scale, the improvement of product types, and the improvement of quality, the application of stainless steel in the construction industry will inevitably open up a new situation.
